Gutta Percha is obtained from the sap of Palaquium trees and mainly from trees such as Palaquium gutta, Isonandra gutta and Dichopsis gutta. The word gota perca is derived from the plant name getah perca in Malay meaning percha sap.
Gutta-percha is a natural thermoplastic and bioinertness and biocompatibility material that does not stimulate the immune system and does not react with it. This material is a good option to fill the empty canal of the tooth root and prevent the penetration of bacteria.
